My First Post!
Hello dear friends, welcome to my blog.
My name is Alayna, and I'm a Nursing student at UAF. I am a massive fan of the macabre and the creepy, the ghoulish and the saintly. I have two jobs, both in relation to caring for those with disabilities. I am always busy, essentially running like a headless chicken, only I'm also being chased by a rabid dog and a small child with dysentery. I am obsessed with art, both in music and in a physical sense. Cheers!
One of my favorite pieces is actually a fairly recent exhibition, revealed in 2022 at the Venice Art Biennale. We Walked the Earth was created by Uffe Isolotto and curated by Jacob Lillemose, and is hands down one of the most profound pieces I have seen in recent years.
My relationship with art is fairly complex. I sketch constantly, but I often leave pieces unfinished. The heading image for my blog is actually a sketch of mine. I love canines, and gross imagery. I have hundreds of sketches, some of which people have actually gotten tattooed on their bodies, which is crazy to think about. My art is permanent for the a duration of a life. I enjoy museums, but I also hate them. Especially modern art museums. There is an air of snobbishness that trickles around those places, and it makes me nauseas. I don't own real art, only prints and the occasional thrifted piece that came from who knows where.

ReplyDeleteThe works by Uffe Isolotto are certainly macabre and they ask more questions than they answer. One of the most memorable art experiences I have had was in a modern art museum in a suburb outside of Florence, Italy, featuring a Taiwanese artist.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really intresting blog! Ive only seen very few macabre artists but I love the heaviness of thst kind of art. Its calls alot of questions, as to what is the background story. Its also really cool that you’ve designed tattoos for people!
ReplyDeleteI love macabre art. That, and heavy metal music always seems to help me get through some of the more upsetting feelings in life.
